PACE have over 22
years experience in Theatre in Education using all forms
of drama including theatre and film, as a media to educate
young people in the arts and on various issues. PACE Youth
Theatre has grown to become the largest of its kind in the
UK with a current membership of over 2000. The company is
a registered charity and non profit-making organisation
which now employs fifteen full time and two part time
staff.
PACE
mount various productions during the year as well as
workshops and performances that over 50,000 people
participate in or witness. The basic ethos of PACE is to
provide a service to all, with a strong emphasis on
youth, using theatre to educate and entertain. It aims
to offer a place where young people can celebrate their
enjoyment of the Arts; experience, create and aspire to
reach goals in an environment that encourages; respects
and seeks to challenge them and to broaden their
horizons through the arts.
PACE also provide
a service to schools and organisations throughout
Scotland. Its unique style of participatory drama
dealing with issues like bullying, racism, the
environment, drugs awareness, healthy living and other
topical subjects which complement the current
curriculum. It is also widely commissioned by agencies
such as Scotland Against Drugs, Drinkwise, Have a Heart
and to create individual theatrical productions, films
and drama workshops, exploring a range of important
issues.
