The Wynd Counselling Service
BACP Accredited Service

The Wynd Centre provides a generic low cost counselling service to those in need of help. Referrals come from a variety of areas such as the local GP service, word of mouth and other agencies.

Counselling is a process that provides opportunities for those seeking help to work towards living in more satisfying ways. It involves agreements between the counsellor and the client and typically takes the form of regular sessions, held in confidence. This provides the chance to explore issues and difficulties in a safe environment. Counsellors are not there to tell you what to do, but to help you work towards living in a more satisfying and resourceful way.

Referrals

Phone or drop into the centre to request an appointment. At this point clients will be informed of current  waiting list times.

An triage session will be offered as soon as possible. This generally lasts for thirty minutes during which information and concerns are shared and a decision as to whether our service is appropriate for the client's needs. If it does then the client will be offered a regular counsellor as soon as possible. If not then we may be able to advise on a more appropriate service.

Cost

The Wynd Centre is commited to offering counselling to anyone regardless of  ability to pay.  As part of the commitment to counselling we expect clients to give a contribution based on their ability to pay.  This will be discussed during the first appointment and agreement reached which can be reviewed at any stage.
